A Review on Hamilton: An American Musical

Hi everyone! Today I’m going to give my honest opinion of Hamilton. (is this even a review?)

It came out on July 3rd, 2020 on Disney+, and I can confidently say that people all over the world have fallen in love with the music, characters, and choreography. (Disney Plus is now live and available to stream in the US, Canada, the Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Austria, Germany, Ireland, Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland, India, and the United Kingdom).

My opinion:

I honestly wish the actors didn’t swear so much; I’m sure would be rated PG without all the language. I just don’t really understand it, haha 😂. I thought the choreography was just amazing. Everyone was doing something different all at the same time, and nobody was really ever just sitting around, and if they did (like King George) their facial expressions were phenomenal.

Costumes

The costumes, compared to other TV shows/movies (that are supposed to be historically accurate) are just great. The Schuyler sisters look like they are wearing stays, but I think they are just wearing a heavily boned bodice. The women’s ensemble wear stays (although the side panel is some sort of stretchy material) that look half boned. I REALLY love this feature. In a part of the show they throw on some petticoats and, voila, a perfect wedding dress! I honestly don’t quite know how the men (especially Hercules Mulligan) even pull of dancing in heavy coats like that!

Favorite character:

I have to say, King George is my favorite character. The lyrics to his songs are just hilarious, and so are his facial expressions. His costume is said to be the most historically accurate: it was based off of a painting!

I hope you enjoyed this kinda random post. What’s your favorite song in Hamilton? Comment down below. ❤️
